RCS provides comprehensive X-ray garment management services including cleaning, disinfection, complimentary repairs, inventory management (RadComply®), annual X-ray inspections, garment disposal, and new garment sales. We’re your one-stop solution for all lead apron needs.

We’re the first and only company in the nation to provide a comprehensive platform for X-ray garment management. Our cleaning process uses disinfection agents that exceed a 3-log kill ratio, and we’ve spent over a decade developing best practices that align with AORN, TJC, and CDC standards.

Service contracts are based on the number of garments in your facility and include cleaning, sanitization, repairs, inventory management, and annual X-ray scans. Contact us for a custom quote tailored to your facility’s needs.

Lead Garment Services

We use a proprietary two-step process recommended by the CDC: first, we clean garments using friction to remove contaminants, then we properly disinfect using agents that exceed a 3-log kill ratio. This method is proven effective as bactericidal, viricidal, fungicidal, and sporicidal.

We use ATP testing to confirm garments are clean and free of living organic material before sanitization. Every garment undergoes rigorous quality assurance checks, and we provide before-and-after images with RLU results for verification.

Your first service takes about a week as we build your inventory and compliance records, followed by delivery. After that, most cycles are completed in 2–4 days, plus delivery. Because we include high-quality loaner garments, your team stays fully equipped and protected with no disruption to workflow.

All cosmetic repairs are complimentary and included in our service: broken buckles, worn Velcro, hanging straps, ripped straps, and torn binding. We cannot perform repairs over the protective attenuation material itself.

Yes. We offer two options: RadOnsite, our full-service pickup and delivery program, and RadShip, our convenient shipping option. Your RCS representative can help you choose the best fit for your facility.

RCS keeps your team fully operational by providing high-quality loaner garments in a wide range of sizes, selected with your staff’s comfort and workflow in mind. Every loaner is disinfected, tagged, and X-ray scanned, ensuring safe and compliant coverage with zero disruption to patient care. Many customers like the fit and quality so much they ask to purchase their loaner sets.

We provide before-and-after images, ATP testing results (RLU readings), and detailed documentation for every garment. Our multi-step quality assurance process ensures every garment meets our rigorous safety standards before returning to your facility.

Lead Garment Protection

Hospitals often lack the time, staff, and space to properly service their lead-apron inventories. According to CDC guidance, effective reprocessing requires a two-step process—cleaning before disinfection—to ensure microorganisms are removed and surfaces are safe. While sanitizing wipes may help with quick, routine touch-ups, they don’t replace the need for a full cleaning and disinfection workflow. Professional deep cleaning ensures both steps are completed correctly, at a level most facilities can’t replicate in-house.

Our data shows that garments typically return to their original contamination levels in about 90 days, which is why we recommend quarterly service for the strongest safety and compliance outcomes. That said, any consistent service is better than none, especially if your team maintains their garments between cycles. If you’d like guidance on best practices, your RCS representative or our resources section can help. For departments with high-volume use, like the OR and cath lab, more frequent cleaning offers even greater protection.

Wipes only address surface contamination and don’t eliminate biofilm or deep-seated pathogens. Our two-step process uses friction-based cleaning followed by proper disinfection with agents that exceed a 3-log kill ratio, following CDC and AORN guidelines.

If aprons show visible staining, odor, or haven’t been professionally cleaned in over a year, they likely harbor pathogenic bacteria, fungi, or viruses. Studies show 84% of lead aprons test positive for Staph and Ringworm without proper cleaning.

Compliance & Inventory Management

After each service cycle, RadComply® updates your digital inventory, attaches X-ray images, logs service reports, and builds a complete history for every garment. Each apron is tagged with a unique QR code, so when an auditor asks about a specific item, your staff can scan the code and instantly pull up its full compliance record.

After each service cycle, your inventory is updated in RadComply®, along with detailed service reports. We also upload before-and-after photos, RLU test results from our QA process, and each garment’s X-ray scan for a complete, traceable record.

Every garment receives a unique identifier code, tracked in RadComply®, and the code is added to the garment’s tag. The platform tracks service history, warranty status, X-ray scan results, and replacement forecasting across all your departments.

Yes. RadComply® offers round-the-clock cloud access to all service reports, X-ray scans, and maintenance history. During an audit, you can scan a garment’s QR code for its complete record or generate detailed reports by department to give surveyors exactly what they need.

Our processes follow best practice standards set by AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses), The Joint Commission (TJC), and the CDC. We also comply with EPA regulations for hazardous waste disposal.

Enterprise Solutions

Yes. We routinely service healthcare networks and multi-facility systems. If it makes sense for your organization, we can build a custom enterprise program tailored to your specific needs and scale.

Custom enterprise programs include tailored service schedules, dedicated account management, multi-facility coordination, and volume-based pricing.

We coordinate service across all your locations with centralized inventory management, standardized processes, unified reporting, and dedicated logistics support. Our team has successfully managed programs for healthcare networks across 43 states.

RadComply® currently operates as a standalone platform that we manage for your team, so you don’t need to maintain or integrate another system. While we continue building future integration capabilities, most facilities find RadComply® fully replaces their existing inventory tools and simplifies their workflow. If you’d like to explore options, our team is here to help.

Full lifecycle management removes the burden from your staff by taking care of disinfection, repairs, X-ray integrity checks, inventory tracking, and proper disposal. You lower costs, improve compliance, extend garment lifespan, and give your team more time to focus on patient care.
