Proactive X-ray Garment Management

We take care of your garments, so you can focus on taking care of your patients.

Total Solutions Provider

We’re the only full-service solutions provider that healthcare networks across the nation trust to do it all.

Cleaning and Sanitization

Following recommendations from the CDC and governing bodies, our process has been developed to allow for cleaning & sanitization to be two different steps.

Garment Repairs

We address and repair everyday wear and tear issues on your garments while they’re in-house for service, thus extending the life of your inventory.

X-ray Scanning

We’ll help you stay compliant and avoid unnecessary fluro exposure by annually scanning to check for holes, cracks, tears, and other damage concerns. We’ll even provide you with the documentation and X-ray images that we capture from each piece.

Inventory Management

Our RADCOMPLY™ platform was intentionally designed with compliance in mind. Managed by RCS on your behalf, our platform allows you to track the servicing of your garments and access all your records for any survey or audit needs.

Garment Disposal

Traditional X-ray garments can’t be disposed of conventionally due to environmental concerns. Our EPA-approved program provides a quick, easy, and responsible option for our networks to utilize.

New Garments

When new garments are purchased through RCS, they are asset tagged for the department, X-ray scanned and the data is loaded into RADCOMPLY™ before the new pieces arrive at your facility.

We do it all.

Healthcare teams rely on our process to properly clean, sanitize, X-ray, repair and track their X-ray garments.

Cleaning and Sanitization

The governing bodies advise that all high-touch-objects and surfaces inside of hospitals should be on a scheduled rotation for cleaning and sanitization. Backed by these governing bodies’ guidelines, our service offering utilizes a two-step process that is proven effective as a bactericidal, viricidal, fungicidal, and sporicidal solution for X-ray garments.

  • Our process is endorsed by garment manufacturing companies and yields best practice outcomes as defined by AORN, TJC, and CDC

  • Our process is designed to ensure that garments are properly cleaned and tested first, before then moving on to a second step where they are properly sanitized

Garment Repairs

Our complimentary garment repair services help keep garments in good working condition throughout the year, thus reducing the overall number of new garments that may need to be purchased by your department. This directly helps to protect your budget and has been a noteworthy observation made by many Value Analysis Committees (VAC) from healthcare networks across the nation.

  • We exchange broken buckles, replace worn Velcro, add hanging straps to skirts, mend ripped straps, sew up torn binding, and more.

  • Repaired garments are notated with a removable sticker and time-stamped, identifying what repairs were made to the garment so the end user is made aware

X-ray Scanning

Radiographic examination of X-ray garments may reveal imperfections such as small cracks and tears that would go undetected if a user was merely conducting a visual or tactile examination. Though it may not be mandated to perform an annual X-ray scan on your garments, we absolutely feel it is a best practice and necessary action to perform.

  • We save your rad techs and staff members unnecessary exposure and use of time by completing the annual X-ray inspections on your behalf

  • We build out a master report for you, with details and images of each garment, from each department

Developed specifically with compliance in mind, RADCOMPLY™ is our proprietary, cloud-based, inventory management software built specifically for X-ray garment tracking and regulatory needs.

After each round of scheduled service, customer’s RADCOMPLY™ accounts are updated with inventory counts, service records, and full documentation for all compliance needs. Individual department reports and entire inventory exports are available in case of an audit or review. All service records, X-ray images, etc. are auto-archived in RADCOMPLY™ for the customer to see year-over-year

  • We manage and update the platform on your behalf

  • We build, document, and maintain a living history of each garment from each department

Inventory Managment

X-ray garments have historically contained heavy metals, including lead. Lead is in the Toxic Substances List under the Environment Protection Act Registry and it should not be disposed of as conventional garbage, but rather as hazardous waste. When disposed of improperly, such materials pose contamination concerns for the environment.

  • Our EPA-approved disposal program provides a quick, easy, and responsible option for you to retire your garments

  • We make the process simple by helping with shipping labels, totes, boxes, etc.

Garment Disposal

Being a total solutions provider means much more than just servicing garments. We also support our networks by selling new X-ray garments, protective eyeglasses, lead barriers, misc. equipment and more. As a Master Distributor with a dedicated team, you can expect a quick turnaround on all quote requests, followed by updates from the time a PO is received to the day the new garments are delivered on-site.

  • When you choose to purchase new X-ray garments through RCS, we automatically asset tag and inventory them, perform annual X-ray scans to verify the integrity of the garment, and load the data into our cloud-based portal (RADCOMPLY™) for your records.

  • Read our buyer’s guide for help choosing the right X-ray garments for your team.

Common Questions

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, reach out to our customer support team.

Who is Radiological Care Services?

Radiological Care Services (RCS) is the only full-service solutions provider hospitals trust to properly clean, sanitize, X-ray, repair, and track the lead aprons that protect their staff every day. We tailor services based on your needs, the quantity of your X-ray garment inventory, and the frequency in which you need service.

Why can’t hospitals clean X-ray garments themselves?

Hospitals don’t have the time, staff, or space to properly service their inventories. Cleaning X-ray garments is not a simple process and, according to the AORN and the CDC, using sanitizing wipes alone will not adequately eliminate microorganisms on a dirty surface. We have worked closely with both organizations in developing our process and have carefully followed their recommendations to create best practices for cleaning X-ray garments.

How do I stay operational while my garments are being serviced?

RCS provides temporary loaner garments so there is no disruption in the continuum of care. Our temporary garments are cleaned, tagged, and X-ray scanned to ensure your staff is protected while we service your inventory.

What if my facility is not in Indiana?

We’ve got you covered. RCS supports facilities from New York to California and everywhere in between! We service customers with our dedicated shipping and operations team that provides RCS shipping totes and replacement garments.

How does a hospital know that RCS services are effective?

We let the numbers speak for themselves. RCS follows a rigorous multi-step quality assurance check on every garment to ensure it has been properly cleaned and is safe to wear. We provide our customers with before and after images including RLU results so they’re confident in the PPE they wear.

What are the fees for the services RCS provides?

RCS works in partnership with our customers to design a program that fits their needs and budget. We know getting budget approval for a new service is as difficult as ever. That is why RCS has designed a cost-avoidance program to not only clean and service your lead aprons, but also save your hospital money along the way.
